GCSE Prize Presentation 2018

We recently welcomed back Ex-Year 11 students and their families to share in an evening of celebration at our Prize Presentation event.
Special Guests on the night were David Pearson from Woodhead Group Ltd, who has strong links with local schools around Careers and Employability and also Ben Slater, a young batsman with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, who took part in an enjoyable question and answer session.
The school would like to thank all the organisations and individuals who gave so generously sponsoring awards, and for their support in rewarding excellence. Particular mention must go to Alfreton Rotary Club, Mr & Mrs Justin Gilbody, Staffa Health Centre and Matthew Wright.
The results achieved by The Class of 2018 are a tribute to the hard work our pupils, the support of family and friends and the commitment of the whole staff team here at Tibshelf Community School.
Congratulations to everyone and all the very best for the future.

electricity-distrbutionWelcome to the Science Department

The Science department is complimented by a range of experienced and enthusiastic staff who work hard to ensure the success of all students. We run a variety of different pathways to ensure that every child is able to access the Science curriculum and gain a qualification which is suitable to their needs and abilities.
In 2015 we were delighted to achieve 87% of all year 11 students gaining at least one level 2 qualification. 64% of all year 11 students achieved two or more L2 qualifications in Science.

The students on the GCSE courses gained 238 A* - C grades and 60 A*- A grades.

Our Triple Science Students achieved an average of 81% A* - A. This was significantly above the national average of 42% and 100% A* - C, above the national average of 91%.

Additional Science (Double award GCSE) achieved 95% A* - C, well above national average of 63%. 21.3% achieving A* - A, again well above the average of 10%.

Core Science (Single Award GCSE) achieved 95% A* -C, significantly above the national average of 56.7% and A* - A in line with National at 7%.

The BTEC qualification proved also to be very successful with a 97% pass rate, above the target for this qualification by 42%. 76% of these students achieving a L2 pass.
