Farewell Class of 2026

As the year group arrived in their glittering dresses and glamorous suits, school staff and family members watched and celebrated from the reception doors, as they welcomed guests to their 2026 prom for Tibshelf Community School.

Nostalgia was clearly in the air, as students and staff alike shared memories of their favourite lessons, school trips and tutor group highlights.

"The time has flown by! I've enjoyed being at this school, but there's something about leaving that makes you realise just how much more you appreciate it all."

- Nula, Tibshelf Alumni

6pm. The Holiday Inn. The entrance was packed with family members and school staff. All had come to celebrate with the Year 11 pupils.

A few minutes later, the guests of honour made an entrance. As well as limousines and a sea of classic cars, there were more unique arrivals, including two parades of motorcyclists. Two lorries also swung by to drop off three pupils at the entrance.

Not long after the meet and greet, students were shown inside for drinks and a chance to capture some memories at the photo booth before taking their seats at their chosen table for a two-course dinner.

Following dessert, their head of year and host for the evening took to the microphone for the esteemed and highly-anticipated award ceremony.

Last but not least was to finish the night with some music and a dance.

Over 230 photos were taken for the event. The Derbyshire Times were also on the scene, capturing the action as students arrived.

Though the weather had brought the students and staff one of the hottest days of the year so far, this didn't stop the year group from making memories on the dance floor.

All that's left to say is congratulations class of 2026 and all the best for the future.
