Fantastic Museums & Galleries of Derbyshire

    Published 01/05/26

Museums are treasure troves. They're brimming with knowledge and heritage.

When asked, Tibshelf school staff said the following were their favourites:

    "The National Space Museum."

"The National Videogame Museum in Sheffield is a gamer's paradise. You can play old Nintendo games, see how games are built, and there's loads of games I'd never even heard of until now."

"Leeds Armoury. It’s brilliantly displayed with massive action models. It even has a life-sized elephant. There are people demonstrating weapons and armoury….even how Henry VIII put on his kingly suit of armour. It’s an entertaining day out, and they even have live jousting in the summer. Best of all, it was FREE entry!"

"You could drive past the Harley Gallery and not realise it's there. It's free, has tonnes of activities for families, and you can walk to Creswell Crags from there as well."

"The Natural History & Nottingham Industrial Museums at Wollaton Hall are my favourites. Wollaton Hall itself featured as Wayne Manor in Batman – The Dark Knight Rises too. What’s not to love!"

    "The Sensation Exhibition in London."
