The Joys of Band Club
“Band club is a nice place to go at lunchtime.”
Megan C, Tibshelf Pupil
Band club has a simple goal: to help pupils gain the confidence to learn an instrument. They can practise together. They can play together. In time, some are even hoping to start a band.
In one corner of the creative block is the music room. In this room, you might hear the rhythmic beat of a drum kit, or the strum of a guitar.
This club aims to be the sort of space where choirs and music groups are born.
The benefits of learning an instrument are limitless. Pupils often enjoy the chance to relax or relieve stress. There's a fantastic community of musicians too.
With enough experience and practice, they can take part in local music events, attend shows, and even perform in the school.
“Band club is good because I get to chill while playing the guitar."
Jesse P, Tibshelf Pupil
Lots of opportunities are available should pupils want to learn an instrument.
Pupils are welcome to attend the club at lunchtime. Here, they can practise casually at their own pace in a no-pressure environment.
Music teachers are also available for private lessons, taught in the school as well, as part of the extracurricular activities which are up for grabs. Anything from the string instruments to woodwind.
If anyone would like to know more, pupils can speak to Mr Brown.
“I want to create a space that’s low-key but allows pupils to explore music. If they ever want to try learning an instrument, or spend some time practising, they can just come in and have a go.”
Mr Brown
