School Meals
We believe that nutritious meals are essential for supporting students’ health, well-being, and learning. In partnership with our catering provider, Derbyshire County Council Education Catering Services, we offer a well-balanced selection that includes fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, and healthy protein options. High-quality meals help students stay focused and energised throughout the day, contributing to better academic performance and overall development.
Could your child be eligible for free school meals?
In these difficult financial times, we want to make sure you’re getting all the help you’re due.
Students receiving free school meals may choose either a hot meal or sandwiches to the value of £3.55.
Applying for Free School Meals can benefit both your child and the school. The application process is simple and confidential, and once approved, your child’s meal entitlement is automatically managed between Derbyshire County Council and the school. Please don’t worry about other students knowing your child gets free school meals. Only the school and catering staff will know.
Importantly, even if your child doesn’t take up the meal every day, registering for FSM helps the school access additional funding through the Pupil Premium Grant. This is used to support teaching and learning and the purchasing of resources, enhancing educational opportunities for all students.
If you get any of these benefits, you could be eligible:
- Universal Credit (if you applied on or after 1 April 2018 and your income is less than £7,400 a year after tax)
- Pension Credit (guarantee credit)
- Help under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Children in families with no recourse to public funds also qualify
