Science

Subject Overview

Our Science curriculum comprises an equal mixture of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics topics and aims to enable all pupils to develop a wide range of skills through a variety of learning experiences.

The curriculum is designed not only to convey an inspirational body of knowledge that will inform the pupil’s understanding of the world but also to develop their enthusiasm and natural curiosity about how and why things happen.

Furthermore, we equip them with the confidence to make decisions about lifestyle choices in the face of significant and ongoing technological, medical, and environmental change.

Assessment Information – KS3

Each unit ends with a 20-question multiple-choice quiz and homework assignments, set on Seneca. This is to assess pupil progress.

Once each term, pupils will complete a written checkpoint task. At a different point in each term, pupils will also sit a test featuring exam-style questions.

Assessment Information – KS4

Homework assignments, set on Seneca, will also be set to assess pupil progress.

In the Summer exam series at the end of Year 11, Combined Science pupils sit a total of 6 exams of 1 hour and 10 minutes each.

Separate Science pupils sit a total of 6 exams of 1 hour and 45 minutes each.
